Satay (Sate)
|
Sate Kambing |
Satay is meat skewers that are cooked over coals. These juicy skewers is usually served with rice cakes (
ketupat) with peanut sauce poured all over the satay. It is a national dishes
conceived by street vendors and have been one of most celebrated food in Indonesia. It is practically everywhere and high addictive. If you happen pass by a satay vendors and they're grilling it outdoor, blowing meat smoke with a hand-held fan, it is most likely to attract customers with its distinguished smell.
Fried Rice (Nasi Goreng)
|
Nasi Goreng Spesial |
I think this dish doesn't need any further introduction. Indonesian fried rice and its reputation has taken the world by storm. Don't you agree? Literally everyone has tried fried rice at some point in their life and it is the most versatile dish out there. You can mix it with veggies, chicken, beef, seafood, whatever it is that you can think of. What makes Indonesia fried rice different is the use of sweet, thick soy sauce called
keycap and garnished with
acar, pickled cucumber and carrots. Fried rice is considered Indonesia's national dish.
Meat Ball (Baso)
|
Baso Urat |
Baso or
Bakso in Indonesia is a meat ball made from beef (normally beef with some tapioca flour). It is usually serve in a bowl of beef broth with yellow noodles (mi kuning),
bihun (depends on your like), vegetables, tofu, sprinkle with fried shallots, celery, and of course
sambal.
Mix-Mix (Gado-Gado)
|
Gado-Gado Spesial |
My favorite ones. This is an Indonesia salad (just the vegetables, there's no fruits), a combination of boiled vegetables (like
kangkung,
kacang panjang,
daun ubi, cabbage, spinach, and bean sprouts) doused with peanut sauce (threshed with
cabe). Sometimes people like to eat
Gado-Gado with rice cake (
lontong), yellow noodles (
mi kuning), and crackers (
kerupuk).
|
Pecel Ayam |
Generally, Lamongan revolves around rice cook in coconut milk (Nasi Uduk). It is quiet to Nasi Lemak from out neighboring country, Malaysia. The difference is nasi uduk usually served with fried chicken or fried catfish (lele goreng), tempe (soybean cake), fried onion, anchovies and topped with sambal and emping (melinjo nut crackers). You definetely can't leave out sambal for this meal.

Martabak Manis |
|
Martabak Telor |
There are two types of
martabak in Indonesia. The-folded pan-fried stuffed crispy pancake is
martabak telor. The filling is made of minced beef, scallions, and onions.
While
martabak telor is savory,
martabak manis is a sweet dessert. With various toppings from chocolate, cheese, peanut, banana, to even
durian and recently popular
Nutella, this thick buttery pancake is quickly become another Indonesia's favorite snack.
Fried Foods (Gorengan)
|
Gorengan |
You can't never say no to this cheap but tasty street snack. You can find it almost in every corner of the street. With only Rp. 5000 you get 5 of these assorted gorengan of your choice from tofu, tempe, cassava, breaadfruit, banana, sweet potato, and my personal favorite bakwan (deep fried mix of shredded cabbage, carrots, and bean sprouts). Abang gorengan will give you free chili (cabe).
Indomie
|
Kinds of Indomie |
This product is so sinful that we can't help but be seduced by it. Cost merely around Rp. 2500 a pack and you get a quick and satisfying snack. It is none other than our very own Indonesian Instant Noodles. With so many flavour to choose from, you'll be left with more than enough choices. I can't think of anyone who has ever tried every single flavour that are available out there. The options are endless and too many to choose from that you'd hope they would stop inventing more flavours. Isn't right that Indonesian
Indomie more better than the others?
Mi Ayam
|
Mi Ayam With Sambal |
If you're starting to notice that mi is a popular dish here, it's because it is! This another variation of noodle dish is served with chicken broth soup. It's usually topped with sweet seasoned chicken, scallion, and dumplings.
Batagor
|
Delicious Batagor |
Batagor is fried baso and tofu with fish paste fillings. If you haven't figured out yet, Indonesian dishes are similar to each other. Can you guess Batagor is similar to what?
So, the conclusion of Indonesian food is like to eat fried, sauce dressing, and the most important ones SAMBAL.
